Tamil Nadu’s Electronic Goods Exports Surge by 60% Month-on-Month

In October 2023, Tamil Nadu experienced a significant surge in electronic goods exports, with a 60% increase from $500 million in September to $817 million.

This growth is largely driven by the state’s robust electronics manufacturing sector, which includes major players such as Foxconn, Pegatron, and Flex. These companies have established substantial operations in Tamil Nadu, contributing to its status as a leading hub for electronics production in India.

The surge in exports is also attributed to the launch of new smartphone models, particularly by companies like Apple and Samsung, which have manufacturing facilities in the state. The introduction of these devices has significantly boosted the export value of mobile phones, a key component of Tamil Nadu’s electronics exports.

Additionally, the demand for telecommunications and networking equipment, such as those produced by Nokia in Sriperumbudur, has further propelled the state’s export figures. The expansion of the electronics components segment, with companies like Delta Electronics and Sanmina establishing operations, has also contributed to the overall growth in exports.

This impressive growth underscores Tamil Nadu’s pivotal role in India’s electronics manufacturing landscape and highlights the state’s capacity to meet the increasing global demand for electronic goods.
